Brenda Lee Morris, born on July 15, 1959, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at her residence on October 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer that began in 1999. She was a pillar of strength, embodying faith and resilience throughout her life, and was a devoted Christian.
Brenda graduated from Webster County High School in 1977 and went on to serve her country with honor as a U.S. Army Veteran. Her dedication extended beyond her military service; she made significant contributions to her community by working for Webster EMS and was a former member of the Cowen Volunteer Fire Department.
Brenda cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her loving husband, David Morris of Upper Glade; her son, Eric (Teresa) Bragg, also of Upper Glade; and her daughter, Nicole (Richard) Roberts of Sod. Her brother, Doug (Jennifer) Mathews of Virginia and her cherished step-children, Douglas Morris of Florida and Dawn Deaton of Ohio, along with her beloved grandchildren—Dale, Danny, Jake, Maverick, Hope, Timmy, Ryan, Jarrod—and many extended family members and friends will carry her memory forward.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louie Mathews; her mother, Carol Mathews; her siblings, Tracy Mathews; and step-son, A.J. Morris.
Brenda enjoyed a variety of hobbies including arts and crafts, fishing, and shopping, making her a beloved companion to those who shared in these activities with her. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and unwavering persistence, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A visitation will be held in her honor on October 22, 2005, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Morris Funeral Home located at 160 Railroad Avenue, Cowen, WV 26206. She will be remembered with love and gratitude by all whose lives she touched.
Service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Doug Martin officiating. Burial with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post #62 will follow at the Handschumacher Cemetery, Upper Galde.
