Betty Jo Lynch

Betty Jo (Hamrick) Lynch, a cherished and devoted woman whose life was marked by love, faith, and service to others, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at her home in Upper Glade, West Virginia. She was 91 years of age, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 9, 1934, in Bergoo, West Virginia, Betty Jo obtained her GED and then went on to graduate from the CNA Program at Webster County High School. Throughout her life, she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her faith as a Christian, a cornerstone that guided her actions and relationships. Her life’s journey included a balance between professional endeavors and dedicated caregiving at home. Betty Jo formerly contributed her talents at Y-mart, Canfields Store, and as a CNA at Webster Health Care Center. She and her husband were also the former owners of the Chuck Wagon Restaurant in Craigsville. Despite this, she embraced the role of homemaker for most of her life, nurturing and caring for her family with selfless devotion.

Betty Jo’s personality was marked by a consistent generosity of spirit; she was always looking out for and helping others. Her kindness and care left an indelible impression on all who knew her. She was a proud foster mom, a role that spoke to her compassionate nature and her desire to provide love and support beyond her immediate family.

Her hobbies reflected a love for both the outdoors and mental challenge. An enthusiast of crossword puzzles, she enjoyed camping, gardening, canning, and lovingly tending to her flowers—a testament to her nurturing character and appreciation for the simple beauties in life.

Family meant everything to Betty Jo. She treasured spending time with her loved ones, creating memories that will be held dear by many. She is survived by her son Sammy Donaldson and his wife Debbie of Upper Glade, West Virginia, and her daughter Debbie Roberts along with her husband Andy of St. Albans, West Virginia. Her legacy continues through 50 plus grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as a wide circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who all held her in the highest regard.

Betty Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband Hanson Lynch, her son Michael Hamrick, and her brothers Glenn Hamrick, Harley Hamrick, Keith Hamrick, Harry Hamrick, and Stanley Hamrick. She also mourned the loss of her sisters, June Sharp, Josephine Perrine, and Velva Hamrick.
