Arthur Van Hamrick, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and community member, passed away peacefully at home in Bolair, West Virginia, on October 13, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on April 26, 1946, in Richwood, West Virginia, Arthur was known for his kind heart and passionate spirit.
Throughout his life, Arthur dedicated many years to the craft of carpentry, leaving a mark with his skilled hands and creative vision. He took great pride in his work, and the homes he helped build stand as a testament to his craftsmanship.
Arthur was not only a talented carpenter but also a cherished presence in the community. He loved being around people and found joy in helping others. His warmth and generosity were felt by many who knew him. As a member of Beaver Run Community Church, Arthur contributed to his faith and to those around him, embodying the values of kindness and service.
In his personal life, Arthur enjoyed the great outdoors. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, and camping, and found relaxation and adventure in traveling. These hobbies allowed him to form deep connections with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever. He was well known for his famous cornbread and brown beans.
Arthur is survived by his daughter Vickie Williams of South Carolina; sister Rose Bean of Cowen; brother Denzil Hamrick of Bolair, grandson Shane Williams; granddaughter Nicole Williams; great-granddaughter Zoey Williams; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family, friends who will miss him dearly, and his loving canine companion Little Bit.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Olen Van Hamrick, mother, Lottie Edna (Tharp) Hamrick, spouse, Juanita (Barnes) Hamrick, siblings, Mary Naylor, Sue Robinson, Jack Hamrick, Elsie Hamrick, Ralph Hamrick, Larry Ralph Hamrick, and Wanda Mollohan. Their memories remain an integral part of his legacy and the stories that will be told in honor of his life.
A Funeral Service will be held at Morris Funeral Home in Cowen, West Virginia, on October 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Doug Martin officiating. Burial will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens in Calvin, WV. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Arthur's life, at 11:00 am until the time of service, sharing in the love and memories he imparted to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
