Anna Montella Springston

Anna Montella Springston, 75, of Cowen passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

She was born September 22, 1941 in Hookersville, a daughter of the late Herbert and Jocie Quinn Short.
Anna was a giving person, who for many years was the town clowns. She ran the haunted house at the Cowen library for many years, then moving it to her house to continue the tradition. She loved children and animals especially her cats. She loved all types of music, her favorite being gospel bluegrass. Anna just loved helping others in their time of need.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jimmy Lloyd Springston. Granddaughters, Jessica R. Sparks of Cowen, Rebecca J. (Chris) Highley of Nitro, Ashley M. Sparks of Athens, WV. Great-grandson, Nolan J. Highley. Brothers, Monte Short of Cowen, Herb Short of Bolair, Dan Short of Birch River, sisters, Phyllis Bender of Bolair, Margaret Riffle of Bolair, Melinda White of Bolair, Peggy Rhodes of Braxton County.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by son, Lloyd Springston, daughter, Molly Sparks, and brother, Spurgeon Short.

Service will be 1:00pm. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen, with Joe Bragg officiating. Burial will follow at the McAvoy Cemetery, Upper Glade.
