Albert Edward "Skip" Lanham

Albert Edward "Skip" Lanham, 74, born August 14, 1951, in Webster Springs, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in WVU J.W Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia.

Affectionately known as "Skip," he was a lifelong resident of West Virginia, cherishing the close-knit community and rugged beauty that shaped his character and values.

Skip was a 1969 graduate of Cowen High School and attended Glenville State College for two years. He was a former coal miner and the owner operator of the Camden Bar. Skip was a lifelong musician having played in the bands, Crystal Mountain, Woody and the Peckers, Ellis Diesel, Gauley Rhythm and Blues and the Elmer Stud Band. 

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cheering on all the WVU teams and caring for his dog.  Skip loved living on the Gauley River. He enjoyed life endlessly as he was always smiling and spending time with his family and friends.  On any given opportunity, he would get together with the band, family and friends to play music.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Hazel Lanham, along with his devoted son, Jason Lanham, and loving daughter, Amy Lanham, who benefited greatly from his steady guidance and unwavering support.

Skip's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Abby Scott, Brock Smith, and Austin Lanham, each holding dear memories of his warmth, generosity, and wisdom. His great-grandchildren, Grace Scott, Landon Scott, and Coen Scott, brought immense joy and pride to his later years.

Preceded in death by his father, Albert Lanham and mother, Martha Marie Cliffton Lanham, Skip was a man of humility and strength, devoted to those he loved. His ability to find the good in others and offer a helping hand will be remembered by all who knew him.

As family and friends mourn this loss, they take comfort in the love and lessons Skip generously shared. Though his presence will be missed, his legacy endures in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

In honoring Skip's wishes, cremation will take place, with no service at this time.
