Service will be 11:00am Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Randy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin. Friends may join the family from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Monday at the funeral home.

Velva Marlene Hall Crites, 56, of Erbacon passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Webster County Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
She was born August 16, 1960 in Webster Springs, a daughter of Laura Wilson Hall Thompson and the late Sidney Hall.
Velva was a homemaker. She loved to cook, decorate, do yard work, wood working, crafts and fast cars. She was a Christian by Faith.
Surviving are her children, Dusty (Diann) Steele of Upper Glade, Jimmy Spence of Richmond, Virginia, Michael Short and fiancé Alisha Westfall, Brandon Crites and fiancé Cynthia Cross of Erbacon, sisters, Vickie Knight of Parkersburg, Leslie Sighn of Reno, Nevada, Stacey Lindsey of New York, Patricia Runnion of Arnoldsburg, Brenda Doss of Florida, grandchildren, Dallas Steele, Damon Steele, Taylor Garrison, Tristen Garrison, Noah Short, Emma Crites and Londynn Short.
In addition to her father, a brother, Sidney Hall Jr., grandfather Pat Wilson and grandmother Violet Mellott preceded her in death.
