Velma Eileen Hoover, 85, of Cowen, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019, surrounded by her family at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown after an extended illness. She was born September 19, 1934 in Richwood, a daughter of the late Elmer O. and Neta Olga Baber White. Velma graduated in 1954 from Summersville High School and furthered her education at Glenville State College. She worked many years as a teacher in Nicholas County. She was a former nursing assistant in Webster and Nicholas Counties. Velma loved to sew, garden, quilt, cook, travel and loved her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Kimberly (Edward) Gibson of Cowen, Karen Jamison of Cowen, Kathryn (Glenn) Hodges of Pacific Grove, California, Kelly Hoover of Arlington, VA., Larry (Angie) Hoover of Camden on Gauley, brother Ken White of  Ruckersville, VA., sisters, Crystal ( Edward) McCormick of Inwood, WV, Delma Winkelvoss of Coudersport, PA., grandchildren, Amanda (Matthew) Nelson, Angel (Christopher) Pierson, Brett Hodges, Andrew Hodges, Kody (Johnna) Short, Whitney (Greg) Ehabe, Michael Neff, Sheri Young, Lillie Barnette, Sabrina Barnette, great-grandchildren, Joshua Jamison, Glenna Nelson, Cadance Pierson, Willow Pierson, Peyton Short, Sophie Short, Everett Ehabe, Denver Ehabe, Katie Barnett, Stevie Cooper, Kaylob Westfall, David Talbert and many  nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents, husband Lonnie Hoover Sr., sons, Lonnie Hoover Jr., Michael Hoover, and David Hoover, great-grandson Memphis Pierson and brother Kermit White preceded her in death.
