Services will be held Tuesday April 6, 2021 1:00pm at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Doug Martin officiating. Burial will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, West Virginia. Friends may call from 11:30 until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Thurman Johnson Johns 78, of Cowen, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at United Hospital Center. He was born July 31, 1942 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, a son of the late Thomas and Minerva Angeline McCourt Johns.

Thurman was a retired conductor and brakemen for: C&O, B&O, Chessie, and CSX Transportation. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, bee keeping, farming, bowling, and reading his bible. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be sadly missed by all.

Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years Wanetta Johns, sons: Johnny (Connie) Johns of Summersville, and Mike (Laura) Johns of Cowen, grandchildren: Vanessa Johns, Brandi (Jeff II) Hayhurst, Kevin (Jessie) Johns, Jeffrey (Ashley) Johns, Leslie (Brandon) Gibson, Steven (Savannah) Johns, Jacob (Cierra) Hughs, Jeffrey Brock Adams, great grandchildren: Gavin McKenzie, Connor Gibson, Aubrianna Johns, Eli Johns, Jeffrey Hayhurst III, Hayslee Johns, Addilyn Adams, Jeffrey Adams, Emalie Stewart, and Garrett Hughs.
