Tammy’s wishes for cremation have been honored. A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen, with Pastor Craig Williams officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00pm until the time of service Thursday, at the funeral home.

Tammy Coleen Gumm, 61, of Cowen, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, January 21, 2022, at her residence. She was born February 11, 1960, in Webster Springs, a daughter of the late Robert H. and Aleen Cobb Gumm.

Tammy was a 1978 graduate of Webster County High School. She worked all her life as a Nurse’s Aide and retired as an in home caregiver for PAIS Inc. She was a member of the Roscoe Miller Post # 62 Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Eastern Star. Tammy worked, with children from a young age, she was involved in 4-H as a member of the mighty Delaware Tribe, and then moving on to the Bigfoot Tribe as a counselor. She also worked as a counselor at the West Virginia State 4-H camp at Jacksons Mill. She enjoyed crocheting, and helping others. Tammy never meet a stranger, she always said talking and helping others are what made her the happiest.

Surviving are her brother, Cecil Leon (Aretha) Gumm of Cowen and sister, Candy Gumm of Cowen, nieces, Amanda (Robert) Quick of Wayne, West Virginia, Cassandra (BJ) Flanagan of Craigsville and Myria (Robin) Robinson of Cowen and all the children she took care of over the years.

In addition to her parents, brother, Robert Gumm, preceded her in death.
