Richard Cleo ”Barlow”  Woods, 85, of Cowen, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Webster County Memorial Hospital, after a short illness. He was born August 22, 1935, in Cowen, a son of the late Harry Samuel and Mary Dale Dyer Woods.

He was the former owner/operator of Woods Garage and Transmission Repair serving the area for over 30 years. He was a former member of the Summersville Moose Lodge, and enjoyed playing cards, playing pool, hunting, fishing in the Chesapeake Bay, playing music, singing and spending time with good friends and family.

Surviving are his sisters, Dorothy Riffle of Cowen and Betty Hammon of Glasgow, West Virginia, nieces and nephews, Barbara Lane, Diane Woods Rooso, Greg Friend, Steven Friend, Teresa Friend, Cynthia Riffle, Samuel Riffle, Mike Riffle, Lisa Conley, Amy Holbrook and many other friends are saddened by his passing.

Brothers, James Woods, Eugene Woods, Burton Woods, sisters Margaret Ocheltree, Hilda Friend niece, Linda Ranzani and Allen Hammon preceded him in death.

Graveside Services will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, July 22, 2021 at the Woods Cemetery, with Rev. Cofer “Bud” Cochran officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 until departure for cemetery at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen.
