Burial will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, WV. Friends may call from 11:00AM until time of the service Wednesday at the Funeral Home.

Paul Richard “Dickie” Bennett, 67, of Williams River Road, Cowen, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at his residence after a sudden illness. He was born October 15, 1951, in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Paul and Mary Rose Teta Bennett.

Dickie was a hardworking coal miner, having worked over 42 years for Meadow River Coal, Smoot Coal, Sewell coal Company and lastly Brooks Run Mining. He was a proud member of the UMWA and was a member of the Emanuel Assembly of God Church. Dickie was a 1969 graduate of Cowen High School. He enjoyed his German Shepherds, building treehouses for his grandchildren, traveling, reading, video games, Disney movies, camping, eating out, going to company picnics, riding rides at Disney with his grandchildren and having coffee with his Hilltop Coffee Group.

Surviving are his wife June Wayne Bennett, daughters, Annie Cogar of Valley Head, Christina (Max Jr.) Cochran of Webster Springs, step-children, Jeannie (Charlie) Fisher of Cowen and Robert (Jessie) Wilson of Craigsville, sister Dorothy (Phillip) Lough of Williams River and brother Dale (Patsy) Bennett of Newark, Ohio, grandchildren, Tommy May III, Hailey Cogar, Hannah Cogar, Patricia Cogar, Grace Cochran, Lauren Cochran, Valerie Fisher, Cheyenne Fisher, Nathan Fisher, Peyton Wilson, Raelynn Wilson, R.J. Wilson, great-grandson Lucas Robert May and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Howie Bennett, brother Charles Bennett and first wife Patty Bennett.
