Loraine Sandy, 86, passed away unexpectedly on July 29, 2018. She was born on June 19, 1932 in Lick Creek, KY on the family farm, to the late Havana Fields Thacker and Albert Thacker.

For many years she worked as a postmaster and store clerk, including at Sandy’s Grocery. Mrs. Sandy was a member of the Alpoca Pentecostal Church of God for 43 years where she served as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 61 years U.G. Sandy, Jr., her parents, and siblings Sylphia Scarbury, Tilden Thacker, Ellis Thacker, Wilgie Farmer, Arlan D. Thacker, and Audrey Thacker.

She is survived by her three sisters, Joyce Meredith, Augustine Compton, and Judy Good, her sons Mark (Kathryn), Mike (Tammy), and Joel, grandchildren Kraig, Madison, Kyle, Kara, and Jared, and great grandchildren Emma and Grant.

A Graveside Service was held, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 1:00 PM at McAvoy Cemetery, Upper Glade, WV.
