Service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Larry Lovely and Brother Larry Aementrout officiating. Burial will follow at the Wayne Family Cemetery, Dennison Run Road, Cowen. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00pm Friday evening at the funeral home.

Linda Jewell Wayne, 70, of Cowen, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown after a short illness. She was born October 30, 1951 in Cowen, a daughter of the late Marshall and Ada Boggs Carpenter.

Linda was a 1971 graduate of Cowen High School and completed her LPN education at the Beckley School of Nursing. She worked 28 years as a nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital, Richwood, until its closure in 2008. She then worked the next 5 years at Summersville Memorial Hospital. Linda enjoyed hunting, camping and cooking. She was an avid bowler, having bowled for many years in the Cowen Bowling League. Her greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren, she loved going to their sporting events and just having them around the house brought a smile to her face. Linda will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Terry (Melinda) Wayne and Crystal (Gary) Stanley of Cowen, siblings, George (Sylvia) Carpenter of Birch River, Junior (Sherry) Carpenter of Paden City, Cam Carpenter and companion Autumn of Cowen, Jane Pierson of Warren, Ohio, Nora Bean of High Point, North Carolina, Sue (Bill) Cutright of Cowen, sister in law, Sharon Carpenter of Bolair, grandchildren, Evan Ray Wayne, Curtis Michael Stanley, Haley Ruth Holmes, Hannah Grace Wayne and Kinley Shay Stanley.

In addition to her parents, husband, Ray Wayne, siblings, Roland Carpenter, Jack Carpenter, Sandy Robinson, sister in law, Jessie Carpenter, brother in law, Lear Bean and son in law, Rocky Holmes preceded her in death.
