A service to celebrate his life and memory will be held Friday, April 14 at 1:00pm at Morris Funeral Home in Cowen, with Rev. Jerry Sears officiating. Burial will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin. Friends and family are welcome to call between 11:00am and 1:00pm on Friday at the funeral home.

John Junior Heck, passed away on Tuesday April 11, 2023 at the Webster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cowen, West Virginia following an extended illness. He was born on October 6, 1940 in Braxton County West Virginia to John and Kate Claypool Heck.

Junior served over 25 years as the maintenance supervisor at Camp Caesar where he worked hard to maintain the camp’s beauty and services to the community. He took great pleasure in woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing, tinkering in his garage, and spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 37 years, Justine Dolores Heck; sons Mike Heck of Tennessee,  Jeff and Libby Heck and Kevin and Rose Heck of Camden On Gauley; stepson Larry Sanford of Cowen; sisters Anna Mae Miller of Craigsville and Mary Margaret Vanscoy of Huntington; grandchildren Michelle Hemmer of Indiana, Jeffrey Heck Jr. of Virginia, Alex Nulter, Brandon Nulter of Cowen, Ashley Heck, David Heck, Zeke Heck of Camden On Gauley; step – grandchildren Kristen Sanford of Ohio, Edmond White of Morgantown, Zack White of Cowen. Junior also leaves behind 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann Heck and brothers, Denzil Lee Heck and Paul Edward Heck, and stepdaughters Lisa Darlene Thayer and Sharon Suzanne White.
