John Franklin Bennett, 67, of Craigsville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at his residence. He was born September 21, 1953 in Richwood, a son of the late William and Betty Brown Bennett, also preceding him in death was his loving wife, Deborah Lynn Bennett.

John was a 1971 graduate of Cowen High School and then started a career of over 30 years in the coal mines having retired from Brooks Run Coal Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising a garden and spending time with and spoiling his grandson.

Surviving are his children, Charlie Bennett of Craigsville, Amy Barney and fiancée Zachary Shahan of Pittsburgh, brothers, Jim Bennett of Camden on Gauley, Joe Bennett of Cottle and sister, Anna Ruth (Larry) Owen of Lancaster, South Carolina and grandson, Jace Barney and many other co-workers and friends.

John’s wishes for cremation have been honored and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
