Home going services will be held Tuesday April 13, 2021 at 1:00pm at Morris Funeral Home with Pastor Lestor Cohn, and Pastor Gary Pickens officiating, with a burial held at Oddfellows Cemetery in Cowen, West Virginia. Friends and family may call from 12:00 until time of service Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mission Program NCF Church, South Charleston, West Virginia in his memory.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic following of CDC and State guidelines for social distancing and facial coverings are recommended.

Jesus said “Because I live you shall live also” John 14:19. John Daniel Selman of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home of chronic medical issues. He was born in Tacoma, Washington, Fort Lewis military base on September 8, 1970.

Preceded in death by his father Richard Selman, grandparents, Ollie and Mollie Barnett, Delbert and Beulah Selman. All of Webster County and his loving cat Meow who has been with him for 15 years.

He is survived by his beloved mother Lorraine Selman of Charleston, sister, Lisa Delgra Selman, nephews, Lucas (Sierra) Delgra, Alex Delgra, all residing in Charlotte, North Carolina, cousins, Sheri Hollond of Athens, Tennessee, Connie Beth Workman of Newport News, Virginia, aunt Rosalea Workman of Newport News, Virginia, and many friends from his youth, Denny, Adrian, and others from the Kanawha Valley.

Alex ministered to him in a special way and led him closer to the Lord in the past year of his life. John enjoyed the simple things in life such as West Virginia Mountaineers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and good steak. He was proud to be an American and stood for conservative Christian values. He was also an excellent fly fishermen who loved the West Virginia streams. He learned his skills from the “Master” Pawpaw Selman.

He was employed as security for various businesses around the Kanawha Valley until his health began to decline. John had his struggles in life, but had put his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age. After the death of his father, there was a void that could not be filled. He often said “If only I could hear dad laugh again.” He attended NCF Church of South Charleston, he now resides at the “Camp at the end of the world by the river of life, surrounded by the glory of God with those he loves.”

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” Psalms 30:5.
