A private family service will be held Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen. With by Full Military rites conducted by American Legion Post #62, Cowen.
Howard will be honored with Interment at the Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic those attending should follow CDC and State requirements for social distancing and face coverings.

Howard Nixon Swecker II., 77, of Cowen, passed away Friday, September 18, 2020 at the Tygart Center, Fairmont, after an extended illness. He was born July 7, 1943 in Elk Water, West Virginia, a son of the late Howard Nixon I., and Evelyn Hewitt Swecker. Howard was also preceded in death by a son, Brian Clynes.
Howard was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War having served 3 tours of duty, receiving the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Army Commendation Medal. He finished his enlistment as an instructor at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He faithfully served his country for 13 years. He was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School. Howard enjoyed horse racing, hunting, fly fishing, working on vehicles and dirt track racing. He enjoyed Thanksgiving and Christmas family dinners and gatherings with family and friends. Howard loved his country and he was a very loving and giving person. Surviving is his loving wife of over Susan Swecker, children, Angela Clynes of Cowen, Eric Clynes of Virginia and Alicia Swecker of Cowen, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter and many other family and friends.
