Service will be 2:00pm. Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Jim Varney officiating. Burial will follow at the Handschumacher Cemetery, Upper Glade. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Saturday at the funeral home.

Howard Leon Crislip, 78, of Cowen passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division, Charleston.

He was born November 7, 1939 in Tioga, a son of the late Wilbert Roy and Ilo Myrl O’Quinn Crislip.

Howard was a retired coal miner with over 44 years of dedicated service, most recently employed by MGM Coal in Bolair. Howard was a member of the U.M.W.A., a former member of the Cowen Volunteer Fire Department and a former ambulance driver. He loved to hunt, fish, watch football and boxing and spending time in the outdoors with his grandchildren.

Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, T. Sharon Crislip, daughters; Ellie Crislip, Melanie (Jeff) Cowger and Meredith (Robert) Cogar all of Cowen. Brothers, Dick (Myrna) Crislip of Summersville, Richard Crislip of Texas, Ulysses Crislip of Craigsville, sisters, Isabell Foster of Texas and Franie Powers of Texas. Grandchildren, Richard, Nicholas, Mercedes, Sean, Corey and Haley, great-grandchildren, Chloe, Sophia, Ella, Nicholas, Robert, Bentley, Stormy, Bristol, Gracie, two twin boys on the way and many nieces, nephews and friends,

In addition to his parent’s, brothers Lester, Charles, Jim, Harold, Waitman and sister Louise Biggs preceded him in death.
