Grace Dorene Lyons, 75, of Birch River, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at WVU United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, after an extended illness. She was born March 21, 1946, in Erbacon a daughter of the late James and Bonnie Tharpe Wolverton.

Dorene was a strong follower of her Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed attending church and working with the Sisters of Christ. Dorene was a faithful supporter of the Special Olympics. She enjoyed shopping, working with her flowers, cooking, and providing and loving her family.

Surviving is the love of her life and best friend, Jake Lyons, children, Jason and Becky Lyons of Birch River and Amanda Lyons of Summersville. Siblings, Dana Morris of Gassaway, Gayle Helber of Glade View, Carol and Gary Welch of Cottle, and Steve and Kaye Wolverton of Erbacon. Grandchildren: Jarod, Kenzie, Isaiah, and Bella. Great-grandchildren: Jaci, Raelynn, Kimi, and baby Ellie Joy on the way.

In addition to her parents, infant daughter, Cynthia Lyons, son, Robert “Brian” Lyons and brother Jimmy Wolverton preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Lynn Scheifer and Jacob Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons Family Cemetery, Birch River. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
