Born in Grafton, Taylor County, WV, March 13, 1937; 1955 graduate of Cowen High School; Georganna passed away April 23, 2019 at home surrounded by her family.

She is survived by husband of 63 years Giovanno Romano; Children: Mike Romano of Craigsville, WV, Joseph L. Romano of Stuart, FL, James L. Romano of Craigsville, WV, Marilyn L. Barfield of Jupiter Inlet Colony, FL, J. Steven Romano (Stephanie) of Charleston, WV; Sister, Margaret Mary Sampson of Elkview, WV; Grandchildren: Brian D Barfield of West Palm Beach, FL, Zachary S. Barfield (Destiny) of Jupiter, FL, Anthony Romano of Winston-Salem, NC, Nickolas Romano of Greensboro, NC, & Zackary Williams of Greensboro, NC; & Great Grandchildren, Tristin & Ivan Barfield of Jupiter FL.

Preceded in death by parents Andrew J. Hession & Mary Margaret Hession; Sisters: Magdalene Eva Hession, Jane Frances Russell, & Gwendolyn Jane Hession;

Georganna dedicated her life to her family and many volunteer efforts including: Whispering Pines Garden Club 1993-2017 (President 1998-2001, Vice President 1996-1997, 2011-2012 & 2015-2017 as well as service on a number of committees, won 1st Place Yearbook Award statewide for WV Garden Club in 1997 & 2001 with honorable mention in 1998); Numerous years volunteering at Craigsville Library. She was a lifelong quilter and member of Mountain Lake Quilters of Nicholas County which serves Veterans, Multiple Nursing Homes, Faltis Children’s Center, Sheltered Workshop of Craigsville, Summersville Hospital and Nicholas County Animal Shelter through various charitable efforts. In 2013 she won First Place Applique Large Duet division statewide in the WV Quilt Festival.

An avid nature enthusiast and bird watcher, Georganna identified the 1st nesting in WV of the long-eared owl, identified the first US sighting and identification of the Red-crested Cardinal, now referenced in multiple bird identification books and also dedicated land to sanctuary for the endangered Golden-winged Warbler.

Our Heavenly Father who created every flower, tree and shrub, we give Thee thanks. By Thy grace, through us, may the beauty of gardens and nature be shared with all mankind. Let us serve with open minds and warm hearts, determined always to seek the best. Let us lose self in the love of beauty, sharing and service. Make us tolerant and understanding of each other.
