Service will be held at 1:00pm Monday, January 16, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Alex Williams Cemetery, Cranberry Ridge. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Ercel G. Williams, 90, of Camden on Gauley, entered into rest to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Summersville Regional Medical Center, after an extended illness. He was born February 8, 1932 at Williams River, a son of the late Glen and Lillie Russell Williams.

Ercel was a coal miner for Peerless and Island Creek Coal Company. He retired in 1988 after working 27 years in the mines and he was a 60 year member of the U.M.W.A.  On September 23, 1972 Ercel began a long career of preaching and ministering the word to many churches and revivals all over the area. He was a Baptist by Faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing, gardening and working on the farm. The brightness and joy in his eye was his family, most especially his grandchildren who he loved dearly.

Surviving are his sons, Leslie (Shirley) Williams, Leon (Linda) Williams both of Camden on Gauley, brother, Eddie (Kelly) Williams of Craigsville, sisters, Waveline Ramsey, Opal Crislip both of Camden on Gauley, grandchildren, Linda (Kelly) Cochran, Joseph (Angie) Williams, Rebecca (Nathan) Tharp, Hillary (Bobby) Slonaker, Cindy (Steve) Haga and Amy (Adam) Petry, great-grandchildren, Ben (Courtney) Cochran, Levi Cochran, Maggie Cochran, Alicia Williams, Jenna Williams, Thomas (Hannah) Stanley, Madison Tharp, Macy Tharp, Brandon Lockard, Caleb Slonaker, Austin Slonaker, Noah Slonaker and his shining star, great-great-granddaughter, Alayna Kay Cochran and the many friends he made over the years.

In addition to his parents, wife, Pearl Maxine Williams, brothers, Marlin Williams, Lawrence Williams, Shirley Williams and sister, Marie Cox preceded him in death.

Service will be held at 1:00pm Monday, January 16, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Alex Williams Cemetery, Cranberry Ridge. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
