Edward Ray Wayne, 66, of Cowen, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 5, 1950 in Cowen, a son of the late Herbert Mack and Margaret Julia Weese Wayne.

Ray was a former coal miner and retired from the Webster County Board of Education as a custodian. He was a Methodist by faith and a graduate of Cowen High School. He loved to hunt and camp with his family. He also enjoyed farming and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Jewell Carpenter Wayne; son, Terry (Melinda) Wayne, of Cowen and daughter, Crystal (Gary) Stanley, of Cowen. Brothers: Richard Wayne, Jim Wayne, and Curtis Wayne, all of Cowen. Grandchildren: Evan Ray Wayne, Curtis Michael Stanley, Haley Ruth Holmes, Hannah Grace Wayne and Kinley Shay Stanley.

In addition to his parents, brother Henry Lee Wayne and son-in-law Rocky Holmes preceded him in death.
