Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen, with Pastor Doug Martin officiating.  Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery in Coe, WV.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Edward Mark Varney, 80, of Coe, WV, passed away on November 5, 2021 at Summersville Regional Medical Center after a short illness.  He was born May 10, 1941 at No. 4 in Bergoo, WV.  He is preceded in death by his parents Hobert Varney and Jessie Mildred Haddix; siblings, James Wesley Varney, Ray Hobert Varney, Helen Elizabeth Robinson, Anna Mae Barnette, and Susan Graham; and sons William Lee Davis and Timmy Varney.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon Carol Varney; children, Teresa Lynn Davis and James Edward (Kelsie) Varney of Camden on Gauley, Edward Mark Varney of Hanes City, Florida, Michael Jay (Mia) Plaster of Knoxville, Tennessee.  He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Mark was a coal miner for over twenty years. He also owned his own fencing company and was a contractor for many years for Sears & Roebuck.  He was a trader by heart and enjoyed tinkering and building.  Most of all he loved spending time at his camp and with his family.

He was a Christian by faith and a member of McFarlane Chapel Church, Let. Col. Eliher Hutton Camp No.569 Sons of Confederate Veterans, and a member of the Mountain Laurel Rebekah Lodge No. 125.
