A memorial service will be held on April 16, 2021 from 12:00-2:00pm at Morris Funeral Home in Cowen, West Virginia- 160 Railroad Ave., Cowen, West Virginia with a graveside service immediately following at West Virginia Memorial Gardens 146 Little Beaver Road, Calvin, West Virginia.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic following of state and CDC guidelines for social distancing and facial coverings are recommended.

Edward Arnold Berkenkemper, 91, previously of Webster Springs, West Virginia, resided with his daughter in Hampstead, Maryland. He went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2021. Born December 28, 1929 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Edward Olaf and Marion (Hubbard) Berkenkemper and the loving husband of the late Phyllis June Harrison Berkenkemper.

Ed served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Before he retired, he worked as a painter for Porter Brothers Construction Company. He was a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church in Bolair, West Virginia and attended services at Hampstead Baptist Church. Ed’s favorite pastime was working on his paint by numbers that he often shared with family and friends, and he enjoyed participating in Hampstead’s Music in the Park concerts.

Survived by his son, Mitchel Berkenkemper and his wife Andrea of Winchester, Virginia; his three daughters: Tammi Ledley and husband Bill of Hampstead, Maryland; Cathy Schrader and husband Jim of Cross Lanes, West Virginia; Terry Berkenkemper of Hagerstown, Maryland; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
