A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00pm, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church in Upper Glade. Friends and family will gather at the church from 2:00pm until 8:00pm to celebrate Luke’s life. An open invitation for anyone who would like to speak will follow the 4:00pm service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Hunt of a Lifetime Foundation, PO Box 241, Harborcreek, Pa, 16421.

Dr. Luke Charles McElwain, 38, of Bolair passed away tragically Friday, September 21, 2018.  He was born August 23, 1980 in Summersville, a son of Charles and Donice Wayne McElwain.

Luke was a 1998 graduate of Webster County High School and a 2002 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College. He graduated from WV School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006. He served his community in many roles as a physician at Webster County Memorial Hospital over the last 12 years. He most recently served as the Medical Director of Emergency Services. He also worked at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.

Luke was a loving father, son, brother and friend and was a Christian by Faith. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting as a member of The Gauley River and Amos Run Hunting leases, fishing, farming, and planting trees. He was a member of the NRA.

In addition to his parents, Luke is survived by his loving children, Luke Charles McElwain II, Andrew Scott McElwain, Emily Faith McElwain, Jennifer Lynn McElwain, Benjamin Paul McElwain and Sarah Elizabeth McElwain, fiancé Pam McLaughlin and her children Marlee and Sage, brother John McElwain of Glen Daniels and sister Kate McElwain of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, niece Mallory and nephew Matthew McElwain, Uncles Paul Wayne of Port Orford, Oregon, John Wayne of Arborvale, WV, Jeff Way of Greenbank, Wv and Dana McElwain of Newport News, VA, Aunts: June Bennett of Cowen, WV, Charlotte Kilabrew of Gautier, MS, and Linda Carpenter of Spring Hill, NC and numerous cousins.

Preceding Luke in death were paternal grandparents Levi and Oleta McElwain and maternal grandparents John and Maxine Wayne.
