In keeping with Bud’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the New Life Southern Baptist Church, Cowen with Pastor Terry Cunningham officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #62. Friends may join the family for refreshments following the service.

Denzil Lee “Bud” Stutler, 85, of Cowen, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at his residence,  surrounded by his family. He was born October 25, 1934 in Harrison County, a son of the late Carl Stephen and Sallie Suttle Stutler.

Bud was the former Assistant Director of Government Manpower having worked 14 years, a former Teacher and Coach at Cowen High School for 16 years and a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the 82 Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Bud was a graduate of Salem College. He was the 1978 WV Trapper of the year, a member of American Legion Roscoe Miller Post #62. He was a member of the New Life Southern Baptist Church. Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be missed by many who knew him over the years.

Surviving are his loving wife Maxine Dodrill Stutler, children, Kimberly (Brian) Angus of Summersville, Michelle (Nico) Fernandez of Elizabeth City, North Carolina and Milissa (Terry) Short of Cowen, grandchildren, Ryan (Kara) Angus of Huntington, Nathan (Randi) Angus of Summersville, Kurtis (Bonita) Short of Craigsville, Mitchell Short of Morgantown, Nicholas Fernandez of Washington, DC., and Olivia Fernandez of Charlotte, North Carolina, great-grandchildren, Maddie, Joanna, Emily, Jude, Fiona, Grant and Gracyn. He will also be missed by other family and friends.

In addition to his parents 3 sisters preceded him in death.
